Jason Raff

Jason H. Raff is an Associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation groups. He represents clients of all sizes—from individual artists and inventors to multinational brands—in intellectual property counseling, prosecution, licensing, enforcement, and litigation. His practice spans trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and rights of publicity, offering deep insight into IP strategy for startups, entrepreneurs, and institutional rights holders alike.

Jason helps clients build and defend intellectual property portfolios that align with their business and creative goals. He advises on trademark and copyright registration, drafts and negotiates license agreements, and represents clients in IP disputes before federal courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals. Known for translating complex legal frameworks into clear client guidance, Jason is particularly skilled in analyzing risks and delivering strategic recommendations for enforcement and defense.

Co-authored Sixth Circuit appellate brief securing favorable ruling on interlocutory appellate jurisdiction under the Federal Arbitration Act.
Represented individual artist in copyright infringement case against national home goods retailer, resulting in favorable settlement.
Represented defendant in trademark infringement and dilution action brought by major alcohol distiller, resulting in favorable settlement.
Co-authored Sixth Circuit appellate brief on behalf of a music manager, resulting in vacatur of trial court dismissal.

Jason is deeply involved in the Louisville community as a mentor through the Brandeis School of Law, a youth soccer coach, and a Board Member of the Louisville Orchestra. He continues to play cello, enjoys cooking, attending live music events, building Legos and playing video games with his kids, and is currently learning golf. Jason is fluent in Spanish, conversant in Portuguese, and has limited working proficiency in Italian.
