Overview

Scott is a patent attorney whose practice includes building and managing patent portfolios for large multinational corporations, small startups, and everything in-between. He has significant patent prosecution experience in a variety of electrical and software technologies, including machine learning, robotics, industrial automation, Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, speech recognition, natural language processing, search processing, image processing, and lighting systems.

Scott works directly with in-house counsel and company leaders to develop a deep understanding of a company’s business objectives – and to ensure that the company’s patent portfolio supports those objectives through a deliberate purpose-driven approach to patent prosecution. Further, companies rely on him to understand and monitor competitor activities, and to ensure the company’s patent portfolio is strategically crafted in view of those activities.

Further, many of those portfolios span multiple jurisdictions including Europe, China, Korea, Japan, India, and Australia.

While working toward his electrical and computer engineering degree, Scott worked for the U.S. Navy on engineering projects related to a gun weapons system for Navy Guided Missile Destroyer Ships. During law school, he was a quality control engineer for a major consumer appliance manufacturer.
