For over 35 years, Amy Berge has provided counseling and business advice to global corporations, large and small businesses, and startups. She advises on trademarks, copyrights, technology, advertising, online privacy, licensing, and related issues. As an advisor and litigator, Amy guides clients through protection of their trademark and copyright portfolios – from development and management to exploitation, problem solving, negotiation, and enforcement, and everything in-between.
Amy looks for practical, cost-efficient solutions. Clients rely on her to manage their national and international portfolios, handle disputes, obtain and maintain trademark and copyright registrations, and negotiate agreements. Her industry experience spans publishing, retail, manufacturing, sporting goods, tobacco and related adult products, casinos/horse racing/gaming, health/health insurance, senior living, entertainment, artists, and pharmaceuticals.
Amy has represented clients in Federal Court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has also been called upon as a mediator, having completed her mediation training through the Kentucky Bar Association.
Her advice is informed by time spent in-house, where twice in her career she was “on loan” to key firm clients including a multinational tobacco company and a global automobile producer’s North American manufacturing headquarters.
Amy has been recognized for several years by Chambers USA (Band 1 for Intellectual Property), Best Lawyers in America® (since 2006), including as Louisville’s Trademark Lawyer of the Year and Copyright Lawyer of the Year, and an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine. Super Lawyers® has recognized Amy as among the Top 25 Kentucky Women Lawyers and the Top 50 Kentucky Lawyers. She has also received awards for her service to the American Advertising Federation (Louisville) and by the Louisville Central Community Center for her efforts in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Amy is committed to mentoring and promoting female attorneys. She served as national counsel for the National Association of Woman Business Owners. Currently, Amy is an Executive Committee Member and the Board Chair-Elect of the Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of the Jeffersontown Economic Development Authority.
