Joseph P. Morris is a registered patent attorney and part of the intellectual property group, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution.
He is trained in computer engineering, computer science, and bioinformatics. His practice is focused on patent preparation with an emphasis on computer applications, including artificial intelligence, natural language processing, search applications, electrical design, and robotics. In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, he has experience in patent infringement litigation, and has worked extensively on both defending and asserting infringement claims, both in court and before the Patent Office in post-grant proceedings.
Prior to law school, Mr. Morris was employed by the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Louisville where he conducted research related to bioinformatics applications and developed software to aid researchers in further analysis of biological matter, including database and graphical interface design.
