Melissa Rennirt has worked in the legal field for over 25 years. For the last 10 years, Melissa’s primary focus has been business litigation and intellectual property litigation. Melissa assists in all phases of litigation, from inception through discovery and trial. She has extensive experience in multiple facets of litigation. She currently oversees the organization and management of documents in large-scale litigation, and she assists as Hot Seat operator at hearings and trials, providing the client a state of art representation of their case. Mrs. Rennirt collaborates closely with the trial team and our clients by analyzing and developing strategies in all phases of the case from initial intake through trial and appeal.

Melissa Rennirt Experience

Lead paralegal in defending a trademark infringement case in the United States District Court in Delaware involving competing trade names for riverboat operators in the United States. The plaintiff was seeking damages in excess of $90,000,000. After a two-week trial, the jury returned a complete defense verdict, finding that our clients did not infringe the plaintiff’s registered trademarks.

Lead paralegal in defending misappropriations of trade secrete claims.

Lead paralegal in defending large scale law firm against $80 million dollar claim of former client for negligence in the handling of commercial litigation. Case was resolved during trial.

Assisted with representation on a multi-national orthopedic manufacturer in the enforcement of non-compete agreements throughout the country against former employees who left the company to join competing medical device manufacturers and attempted to take customer accounts and proprietary information to their new employers.

Assisted with defending a Kentucky oil transport company in a multi-million dollar dispute brought by the former owner over the company’s stock ownership, and successfully obtained a summary judgment for the client.

Assisted with representing employers in federal and state court cases involving discrimination, retaliation, unfair competition, and GMLA violation claims.

Manages large volume document databases and conducts analytical document reviews for deposition and trial preparation.

Assisted as lead paralegal with trials in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Western and Eastern District of Kentucky, Eastern District of Illinois, District of Delaware as well as Kentucky State Court and Indiana State Court.
